  • Hi Anthony,

I was wondering if there is a community-related position you could potentially offer me? I enjoy supporting and interacting with the communities and its users. I have been playing YoWorld initially since 2009 (2010 on my current Facebook account). I would help promote new and things announced on YoWorld on this wiki.

I am an administrator on the Club Penguin Wiki and have gained experience managing community-related aspects of the wiki.

    Regards,

    • Ah Hello,

I am glad you were able to reach out to me. Yes, I've noticed your contributions to the Wiki and I am astounded by how much you've put in. It's certainly been quite a while around here since we've had so much come out from one user. Certainly, we've had a few excellent contributors in the past, even recently, but it is always excellent to have new hands come to help out.

As you can see the YoWorld Wikia is YoWorld's largest source of information. No other fan site offers as much intel as we do and that's an important role to upkeep here in the YoWorld Community. As you saw the announcement I made on the homepage, there are those roles we have available, but here I have the list of all available positions for you to browse through.

Theme Scholar: Helps maintain the integrity of the themes category. This contributor is responsible for making sure that the theme category is constantly updated with the newest theme. Guidelines for this role will be provided by me.

Fashion Scholar: Creates new pages for each clothing asset released by BVG, this role can be held by multiple people.

Furniture Scholar: Creates new pages for each furniture asset released by BVG, this role can be held by multiple people.

Feature Scholar: Makes sure all feature pages are up to date, highly informative, and accurate.

Wiki Artist: Responsible for creating new art for the Wiki whenever needed, such as backgrounds, or special images for articles and pages.

General Maintenance: Goes through the general wiki, and fixes up any broken links or templates. Looks for grammatical errors and adds images to any articles that need them. Cleans up categories and requests deletions for pages that may no longer be needed. All that good stuff.

Proxy: Works as an agent for the Wiki and covers in-game tasks, such as investigations, interviews, secret assignments, and other sorts of tasks. They collect data, write reports, and deliver them to the administrator of the YoWorld Wiki.

YoEconomy Analyst: Collects general data regarding the in-game economy. This role is to be combined with another role, as it's too small a role.

Picking a specific role does not stop you from helping out with other tasks not pertaining to your role. We at the YoWorld wiki encourage you to try other things and work along with others as well. You can also take on multiple roles if you do so wish.

This is all I have to offer for now. I'll let you know if a new position arises or is created. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, if there's a role you think the Wikia needs that I can consider, please feel free, suggestions are always welcome. If there's another position you were looking for, please feel free to let me know as well. Perhaps there was a role on the CP wiki you think will fit this wiki well too.

Thank you for your contributions to the YoWorld Wiki, and I hope you will be sticking around!

      Best,

      Anthony

    • Hello Again,

Since you say you'd like to promote news and such for in-game happenings on the Wiki, I would enable blogs again. We disabled them long ago due to underuse. Feel free to let me know how you'd think we can make this all work out for you.

      Best,

      Anthony

    • Hi Anthony,

      Thanks for responding to me.

I'll get back to you on the blog role in the neat future, I will have a think about how it could work. In the meantime, I'd be willing to take up the General Maintenance role if that would be possible?

      Regards,

    • Hello,

      Certainly, please do.

And excellent, since you appear to be pretty experienced with Wiki work I don't think you need that many pointers for this Wiki. If you have any questions please let me know. I should point out that out infobox system is currently being modified.

The "YoUniversal Infobox" and the "YoWorld Item Cash" infoboxes are outdated/broken and are not to be used any longer. Any pages that use them may give you the message:

"This article or section uses a broken template. Please do not attempt to fix anything as it's an internal error which is currently being investigated."

Just ignore such messages, and proceed to replace the template with its appropriate one, there are infoboxes for houses, items, and things in that nature. That's essentially what I've been working on these past few, lol.

As you can see from these pages here:

A page using an Item Template

A Page using a House Template

A Page using a Theme Template

All those pages have been updated by me with the new templates I had to develop cause the old ones fell apart with an update pushed by Fandom/Wikia.

When replacing broken templates/infoboxes, I recommend extracting the exact file name of the image by copying it before deleting it. That way you can don't have to actually try and look them up, some of our previous contributors have many images codenamed in numerous ways so. The idea for an infobox is to fill as many slots as you can, if it asks for a date, get as close to the actual date as you can, even if you can only provide the year. Someone will come by at some point who may know the date down to the day, so it could be fixed in the future. Also, if it asks for theme code, that's essentially the new codes at the end of every item which ties it to its theme, Implemented by BVG. If you're editing an old theme item or page that did not have such theme codes, you can just fill that in with "None". And as for Asset ID, if you're asked about that, there are just about over 100,000 items in YoWorld, and players have access to well about 82,000 of those items, An Asset ID is literally just the number assigned to an item, what number it is in YoWorld's collection of items. We don't know the actual asset IDs to 99% of the game's items here in YoWorld (The Wiki has just about 1% of them mapped). So, in order to get that we'de have to dig into asset links, so I would not worry about it. If you don't know it, just enter N/A for that part of the infobox.

That's all I have for you right now, any questions please feel free to let me know.

      Best,

      Anthony
