Relationships were first introduced in May 2011. The feature allowed users to form relationships with other users, that extended beyond just being on each other's Buddy List. In order to send another player a relationship requests, they first had to be on the user's buddy list. With the feature, came relationship statuses as well, which players could modify based on their current relationship status.
Function[]
Using the feature and forming a relationship with another is pretty similar to how one would send a buddy request in-game. By clicking on another player's avatar, one simply selects "Form a Relationship" option from the drop-down menu. Users are free to leave relationships and start new ones as they see fit.

In order to change one's own status, one clicks on their own avatar and selects the "Change Status" option from the drop-down menu. From there, one can select their new status. Like forming relationships, these statuses can be changed as many times a user wants.
